In The Loop

Ongoing learning and practical tools for leading a culture of continuous improvement

In the Loop is focused on leading continuous improvement through the science of improvement and the heart of leadership.

This space is designed for educational leaders who want to explore how leaders improve systems, strengthen culture, and close equity gaps through disciplined inquiry empowered by shared ownership, courageous vulnerability, and emerging technologies.

Posts include leadership reflections, practical tools, field-based insights, emerging research, and language leaders can use in their practice and with their teams.

Being In the Loop means staying:

  • Close to the work as it unfolds

  • Connected to people, learning, and current thinking

  • Cyclical inquiry, reflection, and adaptation

This is a space for leaders working toward improvement and collaborative cultures as essential infrastructures for change.

In the Loop is the living extension of the book Where the Science of Improvement Meets the Heart of Leadership: Leading Equity-Focused School and District Improvement.

The book provides the foundation—the why, what, and how of equity-focused improvement leadership. This space extends that work by exploring evolving challenges, lessons from the field, and emerging ideas (including leveraging AI) that support leaders as improvement unfolds in real time.
